The executive producer of Gossip Girl has suggested that Nate will change in the new season.
Speaking to E! Online, Stephanie Savage explained that Nate’s new love interest Juliet (Katie Cassidy) will have a big impact on him.“I think the appearance of Juliet in his life is going to force Nate to make some choices and take a stand on some things,” she said. “We’re also going to revisit some season one issues for Nate, going back to those very early episodes related to his family.”

How have you been spending your summer?
I feel like a gypsy because I have been living out of a suitcase all summer. I was all over Europe and then only had a few days off before I started filming Gossip Girl in New York.Best memories?
I went to Amsterdam with my whole family before I started filming in Monte Carlo in June. Being with mom and dad at a bar is always interesting.Most exciting thing that happened to you?
Shooting at the Eiffel Tower before sunrise (around 4 AM). The scene called for me running down the stairs barefoot so it was painful, yet fun! Also shooting at the Louvre before it was opened to the public.What projects have you been involved with?
Monte Carlo and Gossip Girl and I’m always involved with my charity H.E.L.P. Malawi as well.What’s been inspiring you?
The book, Why Men Love Bitches by Sherry Argov has changed my life. Do yourself a favor ladies and go pick up a copy at your nearest bookstore!Most looking forward to this fall?
Staying home in Los Angeles! I just bought a new house before I left for Budapest. I haven’t spent more than 2 nights in it. I cant wait to start and cooking for family and friends!

On her first day at Columbia, Blair (Leighton Meester) attempts to gain membership into an ultra-exclusive social club, Hamilton House, but she’s in for a few big surprises. Serena (Blake Lively) begins to suspect that Juliet (guest star Katie Cassidy) is intentionally sabotaging Serena’s life and that it may have something to do with Nate (Chace Crawford). Rufus (Matthew Settle) is worried about Dan (Penn Badgley) and decides to take matters into his own hands. Ed Westwick, Jessica Szohr and Kelly Rutherford also star. Norman Buckley directed the episode written by Amanda Lasher.

Gossip Girl star Leighton Meester, who recently expressed interest in starting her own clothing line, already has one customer waiting in the wings: New costar Katie Cassidy! “I’d buy it,” the actress told PEOPLE at W magazine’s September issue celebration at N.Y.C.’s Saks Fifth Avenue on Tuesday. “She has really good taste. I think she‘d be a great designer.” In the meantime, Cassidy will continue to admire her castmate’s killer wardrobe, telling PEOPLE, “I’ve seen her closet. It’s pretty amazing! She has some really good clothing.” Since joining television’s most stylish cast, the former Melrose Place star has begun to develop some major fashion cred of her own, sitting front row at Diane von Furstenberg and Jason Wu alongside style stars like Sarah Jessica Parker and Diane Kruger during New York Fashion Week. ‘Gossip Girl’ EP: Katie Cassidy is not Gossip Girl, will fall for Nate

We’ve heard all about the fabulous time that the “Gossip Girl” cast had while shooting the Sept. 13 Season 4 premiere in Paris, but back on the Upper East Side, trouble was brewing. Nate (Chace Crawford) has spent his summer sinking to new lows courtesy of Chuck’s little black book, but when he meets Katie Cassidy, he’s inspired to clean up his act.
“This is definitely a big story for us,” says executive producer Stephanie Savage. “Katie’s with us for a good long time — at least for the first half of the season.”
Of course, the “Melrose Place” star isn’t what she seems. If there’s anything we’ve learned from “Gossip Girl” over the years, it’s that no newcomers arrive in town without some skeletons in their always-fashionable closets. Cassidy’s character Juliette is no exception to the rule.
“By the time the mystery is over, you’ll know everything there is to know about Juliette,” Savage teases. “Her entire back story will be revealed.”
After watching the first two episodes of the season, we thought that Cassidy would make an excellent Gossip Girl. She’s definitely got her eye on all of our Upper East Siders, and nothing slips by her. Not so fast, Savage tells us. “We’re not going to find out who Gossip Girl is this season,” she says definitively.
As for Juliette’s romance with Nate, Savage says, “The relationship definitely starts off as something with an agenda behind it, but by the end, it’s real for both of them.” She laughs. “Isn’t that always how it happens? You start a relationship trying to use somebody and you fall for them every time.”
We can’t wait to see Juliette tangle with Blair (Leighton Meester) and Serena (Blake Lively), but B and S may have their hands full at the moment as their stories unfold on the Columbia campus.
“It’s a really fun story that our audience will really like,” says Savage. “The center of our show is back in the right place, Uptown. It’s a collegiate, classically preppy environment that’s just perfect for our characters.”
