Inside, a driver navigates while a cinematographer films American actress Katie Cassidy as she runs along the pathway.

Vancouver film producer and University of Victoria grad Kyle Mann watches his cast and crew from a distance.

“This scene will be her running and she’s got a bright future ahead of her, and then she’s going to get the (metaphorical) hammer hitting her,” Mann said, hinting at the movie’s plot that he is keeping under tight wraps. “So this is a good setup.”

The $4-million low-budget independent psychological thriller tells the story of two roommates who become embroiled in a web of mystery and a murder. The film’s working title is The New Girl, but that will change before the movie is released late next year.

Katie To Guest Star In “New Girl”

Katie Cassidy, who has been on the hit CW shows Supernatural (as season 3 Ruby) and Gossip Girl (as Juliet Sharp), has a new gig coming up this fall season on a new Fox series starring the other Deschanel sister not on Bones.

Online, Katie Cassidy will be guest starring on the new Fox comedy as “a beautiful guest at a wedding reception that Jess (Deschanel) and the gang attend.” It seems like Jess’s roommate Schmidt likes what he sees, but since Katie Cassidy is only scheduled to appear in that one episode, it doesn’t seem like it’s going to develop into more. However, she could return, so you never know what could happen in the future.

New Girl looks like it’s going to be one of the hot new summer shows, and it puts the Deschanel sisters on the same network, meaning there’s no possibility of competition for viewers. This latest casting news also seems like the right move, and it’ll be good to see Katie Cassidy back on television after her stint on Gossip Girl last fall.

undefined Monte Carlo star Katie Cassidy said she always wanted to marry Leonardo DiCaprio.

The 24-year-old admitted the actor was her childhood celebrity crush and she finally got the chance to meet him recently (not true Kaite meet him when she was little).

She said to OK!: ‘Oh, Leonardo DiCaprio. Ever since I saw Romeo and Juliet, and then Titanic, I was like ‘that’s the man I need to marry, and I need to marry him now.”

However Cassidy said she respects him more now she has met him.

She said: ‘He’s a wonderful actor. I respect him for his work and not necessarily just for his good looks – although he still looks really good. He’s wonderful.’

Katie To Star In “Bumped”

More than two years after winning a supporting actress Oscar for “Precious,” Mo’Nique has settled on her next feature project, as the thesp is in talks to play a supporting role in the indie dramedy “Bumped.”

Mo’Nique’s representation had no comment on the negotiations.

“Gossip Girl” star Katie Cassidy, “X-Men: First Class” thesp Alex Gonzalez and Xenia Siamas have also signed on to the project, joining Kellan Lutz and Camilla Belle, who Variety first reported were set to star.

Stephen Herek (“Mr. Holland’s Opus”) is directing from Lizzy Weiss’ script, which follows five strangers whose personal lives are both revealed and changed during a long layover at Chicago’s O’Hare Airport.

Titan Worldwide Entertainment principal Brad Feinstein is producing with Rumpus Entertainment’s Steve Carr and Jason Taragan, while Titan’s Allan Triel will serve as a co-producer. Ashok Amritraj and his Hyde Park Intl. banner is handling international sales for the project.

Mo’Nique has fielded several feature offers since her performance in Lee Daniels’ “Precious,” but she has instead focused on hosting BET’s “The Mo’Nique Show.” She is repped by manager Sidney Hicks.

CAA and Anonymous Content rep Cassidy, who recently starred alongside Selena Gomez and Leighton Meester in Fox 2000’s “Monte Carlo.”

Gonzalez is a Spanish actor who recently played the mutant Riptide in “X-Men: First Class.” He’s repped by Kuranda Management. Siamas, who previously appeared in “Casino Jack,” is repped by James/Levy Management.
