First off, hello! I’m Neide, i’m going to be helping Abby with Katie Cassidy Online from now on. I am very excited to be working on this site, i have been a fan of Katie since the moment i saw her on Melrose Place and its a honor to be part of this site. Or, in our case, staying cool while keeping warm when summer decides to throw you for an unseasonable loop-di-loop.

What Katie Wore: Everthing’s Better In Print

This printed denim jacket might just be one of our favorite finds of the summer. Ok, so maybe it’s not a find by way of the fact that it wasn’t exactly hidden (what of Marant is these days), but when we come across something that we like so much we skip home and start playing dress-up with our new sartorial toy for hours on end, it really starts to feels like we discovered the Americas.
A versatile printed denim jacket with an obi-style belt?! It’s a whole new world, baby. And this one is being claimed by your closet. We have never been so excited about anything, we promise.
Oh wait, look over there… Is that a Kate Moss muscle T?! We’ll be right back…

What Katie Wore: Far Out

Everyone has a fashion kryptonite – that one category of clothing that, no matter how many you have in your closet, each different iteration seems new and exciting enough to swipe that plastic and swipe it fast. Your kryptonite is usually something that makes you feel the three C’s: comfortable, confident and cool. For us, graphic T’s and denim are decidedly those things. Perhaps it is because they can be dressed up, down and every which way to Friday, or maybe it is simply because there isn’t a single ensemble that we don’t think a graphic T or denim could be incorporated into (go ahead, try us). Whatever the case may be, we rarely find something in either category that doesn’t send us into a frenzied “add to cart” situation. They get us every single time. And despite what the men in our lives say, each pair of jeans and every t-shirt we come running home waving like a victory flag is SO not the same as anything else in our closet. We promise.

What Katie Wore: A Canadian Tuxed In Canada

The Canadian Tuxedo hasn’t had it easy, often categorized as tasteless, tacky and much too much (we blame Justin and Britney). But as lovers and defenders of denim everything, this past trip to Vancouver we took a page from Bing Crosby’s book (yes, that same book from which the Canadian Tuxedo came) and brought the whole denim-on-denim thing right back to where it started – O, Canada. Full. Circle. It felt only right…
Inspired by the denim prowess of the likes of Kanye West (because if Kanye says do it…), we put the Canadian Tuxedo to the summer test. Ok, so it’s possible we traded in a pair of jeans for cutoff shorts and maybe this shirt is actually chambray, but the spirit of the whole denim-on-denim thing is there. Right? After all, it is summer, what else were we supposed to do? We are all for sacrificing oneself for fashion to a degree, but when that degree has an eight in front of it we can’t help but cry ‘uncle.’ We think Bing would totally understand.

What Katie Wore: J’aime Rodarte

We are constantly chatting about how much we prefer our fall/winter closets over our options when it comes to spring/summer. Maybe it is our tendency to wear darker colors or our primal fear of florals, but as women who would rather give themselves heat stroke than not layer, let’s just say the warmer months have a tendency to be a bit difficult for our practicalities. After all, we spent sale season buying leather jackets and boots just in time for the thermometer to read 90 degrees. You dig?
That being said, every now and then we find pieces that remind us why summer (and the corresponding afternoons spent basking in the sun and drinking rose) has it’s perks. This Jenni Kayne skirt (majorly on sale here), for example. We may have trouble when it comes to bright colors and polka dots, but give us a striped pencil skirt and loose fitting t-shirts any day. The rest is what the kids call summer history.
As an aside, we both have this Rodarte shirt in multiple colors because yes, it is just that cool comfortable. J’aime Rodarte, if you know what we’re saying…
