BeatyHigh Interview

Written by owner on October 02 2013

As well as the photoshoot for Beatyhigh Katie did a great little interview with them, She talks about Tomboy KC, her own style and Arrow.

“Actress Katie Cassidy has certainly shown she can take on whatever role is thrown her way – from a manipulative schoolmate as Juliet Sharp on “Gossip Girl,” to a legal wiz as Laurel Lance in her current role in the DC Comics based CW show “Arrow.” The gorgeous actress has found her footing quite comfortably with the young, prime time audience, and has cemented her place as one of today’s fashion “It” girls, not only sharing all of her obsessions over social media, but most recently venturing into the blogosphere with her own site.

As for her current role as Laurel Lance, Cassidy makes us all envious of her drive and ability to go after what she wants and believes is right – even if she gets a little bit too feisty at times. But, what all of the fans of the show are of course waiting for is how Cassidy will transition Lance into the Black Canary – a development that is long-awaited by the original “Green Arrow” comic book fans. Nothing gets viewers more excited than a good old fashioned character transformation, and we’re sure Laurel Lance’s will be one for the books.

Although the 26-year-old is currently filming the second season of the hit show in Vancouver, she made time to stop by our studios to fall back into the ’90s – a genre that was perfect for the actress, considering her tomboy tendencies. Cassidy fully embraced the ’90s theme, rocking everything from a bold burgundy lip to perfectly-tousled locks—as well the requisite flannel and overalls, of course. (If you have flashbacks of “My So-Called Life” and “Empire Records,” we happily take the blame!)

Read on to find out what products Cassidy really uses on her skin every day (we actually rifled through her makeup bag!) plus the details on her all-new blog, Tomboy KC.

Beauty High: What beauty products do you keep in your purse at all times?
Katie Cassidy: Clinique Chubby Sticks. When I’m traveling, I keep Skinceuticals A.G.E. Eye Cream, eye drops and Benefit. They have a tiny Benefit mascara that’s travel sized that I like to keep in my purse, because mascara kind of just makes everything more fabulous. Mascara at all times. Usually some sort of chapstick, and that’s probably about it, as far as beauty products go.”

‘Arrow’ scoop

Written by Monica on September 18 2013

EW shared with us some scoop about the new season of ‘Arrow’. You can read the whole article here.

As for what awaits Laurel in season 2, which picks up five months after the earthquake that leveled the Glades: “Both Laurel and Oliver are dealing with the death of Tommy. Even though Tommy had broken up with her, she really feels like she betrayed Tommy by sleeping with Oliver — and certainly after Tommy died trying to save her,” Kreisberg says. “So Laurel’s energy this season early on is to try to make amends for that. Unfortunately for Oliver, that means she wants to catch the vigilante in her new job as the District Attorney. So as she and Oliver are trying to deal with their respective grief at having betrayed and lost Tommy, their hunting each other at night. It’s a new and fun dynamic for us to put them in.”

Below the article you can also watch a short video about the character of Laurel and how she developped through the first season.

Spoiler about Arrow’s season 2

Written by Monica on September 15 2013

Katie Cassidy shared a spoiler of season 2 of Arrow for E!Online.

Liam: Hit me with an Arrow… scoop that is.
“I feel like it’s season one times ten,” Katie Cassidy teases of season two. “I feel like every episode has been so big and I literally did not think when we shot the first season it would get bigger I would just figure it would get smaller. Literally they have taken season two and just have expanded it bigger and it’s just amazing! Expect the unexpected and just know it’s darker.” So not only is she gorgeous, but Cassidy knows how to tease her show. Sometimes God gives with two hands, y’all.

My First Job: ‘Arrow’ Star Katie Cassidy

Written by owner on May 16 2013

Before she played model citizen and lawyer Laurel Lance on The CW Network’s “Arrow,” Katie Cassidy was just a model.

At age 11, Cassidy began her career as a model, something that would last several photographic shoots.

“It began as a photoshoot for Mervyns. Somehow I was in modeling. Actually that sounds like runway modeling. When you are a child, I don’t consider that modeling. It’s like, “okay, you want to put me on a poster, sure,” Cassidy recently told the Journal.

She was discovered in a mall where she was shopping with her mother.

“He was like, ‘you should do print work.’ I guess print work is a better way of saying it at that age,” said Cassidy.

Although the 26-year-old actress doesn’t remember what she wore or how she posed, or ultimately where her pictures ended up, she recalls the temperature as if it were yesterday.

“It was freezing, it was a summer shoot but they shoot summer during the winter, so I was freezing,” she said.

After Mervyns, she modeled briefly for Kmart before moving onto Abercrombie & Fitch ANF -0.07%.

“It was one of their catalogs. They had 10 models do it. After that I was like ‘I am done with this. I want to have friends and go play and be done with this,’” said Cassidy.

Even though she may have disliked the work, she enjoyed making her own money.

“I got paid $250 and my mom was like ‘what do you want to do?’ And I was like, ‘I want to spend it.’ I bought a belt that was $180 and then she gave me the rest and I went to the movies with my friends. I was very excited about it. I was very into fashion at that age,” said Cassidy.

When it comes to life lessons learned, Cassidy definitely realized a few. The actress is the first to admit they didn’t stick.

“I think it would be don’t spend most of your money on clothes, but I cant help myself. I’m obsessed with clothing.”

Katie Talk’s To MTV.com Video

Written by owner on November 15 2012

Although we’re still getting acquainted with the CW’s “Arrow,” its cast and crew have impressed us enough with their storytelling thus far that we are very optimistic about the future of the show and the seemingly endless possibilities for exciting nods, cameos or full-fledged inclusions of our favorite DC characters. One of those introductions goes down in tonight’s episode “Legacies,” in which we’re introduced to the infamous Royal Flush Gang.

How dastardly will these guys be for Oliver Queen and the Green Arrow? MTV News caught up with star Katie Cassidy recently to find out.

“It’s so good. Oh my gosh, this episode is so cool,” Cassidy gushed when we asked her about the upcoming ep. “This is when I realized while we were shooting, I read the script and felt like I just read some gigantic blockbuster. It’s so nuts and so well done. I saw it and was like, ‘Oh, thank God.’ Reading it I wondered, ‘How do you pull this off in a nine-day shoot?’ We’ve figured it out, the actors: they shoot most of the action scenes in five days, and the acting in two, all the character work in two [days].”

Cassidy went on to say that one of the things she most enjoys about being a part of the production are its feature film-level action sequences.

“It’s a huge production. It’s one of my favorite episodes,” she said of “Legacies.” “[Episodes] four, five and six are my favorite episodes. They’re so well done and smart.”

But what about that Royal Flush Gang? What’s exciting or intimidating about this villainous bunch?

“They do the whole masked bank robbery thing. It reminds me of ‘The Town.’ It’s crazy,” she said. “It’s so good.”

‘I’d love to play Ana in Fifty Shades of Grey – even if it is a little risque’: The world according to Katie Cassidy

Written by owner on November 07 2012

The daughter of David Cassidy on teenage girls screaming for her father, driving a batmobile and playing the heroine of EL James’ trilogy

I didn’t think it was strange that teenage girls used to scream for my dad.
I grew up knowing how famous he was, so it’s been the only reality I know. I’m really proud to say that I’m a third-generation actor (Katie’s father is David Cassidy and her paternal grandparents are actor Jack Cassidy and actress Evelyn Ward), but my dad always instilled in me that fame wasn’t the important thing, it was about learning the craft and never being afraid to stop learning.

I was a competitive gymnast for 12 years.
I started when I was three and stopped at 15, basically because I knew I wasn’t ever going to be an Olympian. Also, I just wanted to have free time with my friends – I didn’t have much of a life as I was training for 25 hours a week. I had a Russian coach and as everyone knows, they’re very strict. I used to cry out of frustration at not being able to do the moves sometimes. It was tough.

My father loves to advise, but that’s fine because he’s been through it all.
I remember one time he drew me the triangle of knowledge and pointed to the tip saying that was the beginning of our lives and that by the time we’re 30 we’ve barely moved up the triangle. I was about seven when I started acting and he was a little concerned initially, probably because he’d been in the business from a young age, but I didn’t turn professional till I was 18 because both he and my mum were adamant that I got a normal childhood. They weren’t together while I was growing up, but I grew up around him and learned a lot from him about the business. I recorded his old hit I Think I Love You in my teens and he thought it was cute, but I don’t think we’ll work together – I don’t want to mix business with family.

I’m flattered that people have been talking about me for the role of Ana in Fifty Shades Of Grey.
I’ve read the book, it’s great and it would be unbelievable to play her… even if it is a little risqué. I believe they’re in the process of writing a script for it and I’d love to be given the opportunity to take on a character like that. I don’t think the film would offend as many people as maybe the book has.

I always wanted to play a badass chick and get to beat up boys.
My new series Arrow is based on the comic book hero Green Arrow and tells the story of a billionaire playboy, Oliver Queen, who is shipwrecked and returns home to fight crime as the vigilante Arrow. I play Queen’s ex-girlfriend Laurel, who doubles up as the superhero Black Canary. She’s a great fighter, so I’ve been doing fight training for the role. I’m into action, so this is a dream role for me.

My boyfriend (Jerry Ferrara) jokes that I drive around in the Batmobile.
I’m not much of a car person, but I have the new BMW 525. It’s black with tinted windows and black rims and every time I’m in it he says: ‘I’m always expecting some great big dude to jump out, not you!’

I was a bit of a nerd as a kid, but nerds are cool so I’m OK with that.
I was a real videogame nerd. I was a huge Mortal Kombat fan and my favourite fighter was Sub-Zero. His special power was the ability to freeze people but you had to know the technique, which was called the ‘thumb-blaster’ because you would do it so many times your thumbs would be blistered.

British comedy is so brutal.
Nighty Night and Little Britain are my favourites but the lead characters are just so horrendous and horrific, although I still found them completely hilarious.

I always felt older than my peers.
I started working at 18. I had to learn to be professional quickly and that’s been great for me. Acting was always my dream. I can’t believe I get to do it every day.
