What Katie Wore – “A Blazer Is The Best Investment, Maybe Ever”

Written by owner on October 05 2015

If it were up to us, women everywhere would be rocking blazers – or better, a full pant suit – every damn day of the week. We’ve got a penchant for menswear, so when it comes to jackets, we come from a place of always.

Do you hear us? We adore the pure structure of it all, like the crispness of a white button-down paired, if you can imagine it, with a pair of over-the-top pumps. Pure contrasting perfection.

Sure, going head-to-toe work-wear isn’t always the best of options – after all, you might want to look more room and board than boardroom, on occasion. But that just means you need to take some time (and by time we mean mere seconds) to take apart that weekly uniform and multi-purpose that shit.

Rest assured, even a hint of structure, like a blazer for instance, can make any look a little more put-together and downtown cool. Which was our entire point with this one. A little pinstripe here and a touch of leather on your knees there and, presto change-o, your work-wear just took a right turn at girls night out.

But come Monday morning, girl you know we’ve got a pair of matching trousers. You see where we’re headed here?

New York Fashion Week In Review

Written by owner on October 05 2015

01.jpg

Our usual New York Fashion Week experience is one filled with traffic jams, missed shows and a whole lot of stress. But since the moving of the venues, we found this season to be a lot less panicky phone calls and a lot more sushi. (Dear Koi, thanks for keeping our table warm.)

Call it a well planned itinerary or just a blessing from the fashion Gods, but we (almost) made it to everything we intended to and managed to enjoy ourselves the entire time we were in New York City.

Maybe it was the fashion – dying for one Veronica Beard chambray short-suit in particular. Or maybe it was because this season we were joined by friends – Tommy and Alyssa automatically make everything better. Or maybe it was just because it wasn’t 100 degrees Fahrenheit. (We’ll take intermittent showers over blazing heat any day of the week.)

Whatever the case, this Fashion Week was one for the books.

Now back to our regularly scheduled programming.

Arrow “4×01 – Green Arrow” Synopsis

Written by Neide on September 18 2015

“Green Arrow” (Ep# 401)

MY NAME IS THE GREEN ARROW — Oliver (Stephen Amell) and Felicity’s (Emily Bett Rickards) blissful getaway is cut short when Thea (Willa Holland) and Laurel (Katie Cassidy) pay them a visit and tell Oliver they need his help back in Star City. The city has been attacked by “Ghosts,” assassins led by a dangerous man named Damien Darhk (guest star Neal McDonough). However, when Oliver returns, Diggle (David Ramsey) makes it very clear that he doesn’t want Oliver on the team. Thor Freudenthal directed the episode with story by Greg Berlanti & Beth Schwartz and teleplay by Marc Guggenheim & Wendy Mericle (#401).

Dragon Con 2015: Katie Cassidy Press Conference

Written by Neide on September 13 2015

As you probably know by now if you’ve seen my other posts, Dragon Con 2015 was last weekend, and I was able to attend on behalf of Bam Smack Pow. This allowed me to attend some of the press conferences that went on during the con, including one with Arrow star Katie Cassidy, who like her good friend and roommate Danielle Panabaker, is a very friendly and kind person. Below is a transcription of some of the best questions asked at the press conference.

 How is training going?

It’s good, it’s really good. I actually brought my trainer with me just because I am the type of person that if I’m not with my trainer, it’s easy for me to be like, “Oh, I’m just too tired this morning.” But it’s really good. It’s really hard, but I love it. It’s awesome.

Have you had to ramp up the training for having more of a role on Team Arrow as Black Canary?

Oh yeah, absolutely. I think second season, Marc Guggenheim and I had a discussion about the physicality and the difference between Laurel. Obviously, Season 2, you saw her go from, you know, an alcoholic and a drug addict and literally a disaster all day everyday. As an actor, it’s challenging and I love that, but it was really nice and I think a really good arc for me to come out the other side. You know, hit rock bottom, get sober. And then Season 3 we spoke about the physicality of Laurel, that there has to be a drastic difference. I’ve spent a lot of time, and still do obviously, dedicating my hiatus to training and working out.

Arrow’s Katie Cassidy On Kicking Ass, Working With Team Arrow and ‘Legends of Tomorrow’

Written by Neide on September 13 2015

One of the most often-repeated pieces of criticism about the return of Sara Lance in the upcoming seasons of Arrow and DC’s Legends of Tomorrow is the notion that it will pull at the thread of character development for Laurel Lance, her sister and replacement as the (Black) Canary.

At Comic-Con International: San Diego this summer, ComicBook.com and a roundtable of reporters spoke with actress Katie Cassidy, who plays Laurel, about what Arrow‘s fourth season will look like for Laurel, what her connection to the Legends of Tomorrow might be and whether she’s hoping for crossovers with her not-dead sister.

How’s it feel to be at the first one of these big events where you can talk really openly about being Black Canary?

It’s great and amazing. I’m like “Finally! I can say it!”

It’s completely fulfilling. This character, this job, this world, this series has been a dream come true and I really wanted to do action and living in this genre, so I couldn’t be happier.
