‘Arrow’ EP Teases Black Siren’s Return & Fight Against Dinah Drake

Written by owner on May 09 2017

In the last two episodes of Arrow Season 5, we will see the return of Katie Cassidy as Dinah Laurel Lance/Black Siren from Earth-2. After those two episodes, Cassidy will be re-joining the show as a series regular again for Season 6. So what can we expect to see for Black Siren when she comes back?

TV Line released their latest edition of Matt’s Inside Line where fans get to ask Matt Mitovich for scoops on various shows. An Arrow fan asked what he could tease about Cassidy’s return to the show in episode 22 and 23.

Show-runner Wendy Mericle revealed that Siren’s return plays a big part in Adrian Chase’s plan as he knows how it will affect the heroes having to fight someone that looks like their fallen ally, the Black Canary. She also revealed that there will be a canary fight between Laurel Lance and Dinah Drake.

“She comes back as part of Chase’s plan. Chase knows exactly what he’s doing, and he understands how unsettling seeing somebody that looks like Laurel Lance is going to be for the rest of the team,” her “dad” Quentin included. “And from a writing perspective, it’s just fun storytelling. Katie Cassidy does an amazing job as Black Siren, and seeing her take on Dinah, or her take on Lance, is going to be fun.”

What Katie Wore: Welcome to May

Written by owner on May 02 2017

“It’s May.

Finally.

Bring out the swimsuits, sunscreen and Moscow mules because it’s about to get all summer up in here.

Just one more month and then it’s officially on. We are prepping by starting our tans early, breaking in our beachwear (hashtag this Koza stuff might be the new uniform) and getting in a more relaxed state of mind.

Palm tree earrings required.

Sure, May is gonna be a doozy (there’s always a lot going on), but there is a bright light at the end of the tunnel and it is worth the hustle. So keep your eye on the prize (and start getting those kaftans ready) people. Summer is on it’s way.”.

Wendy Mericle On Black Siren’s Return To Arrow

Written by owner on April 30 2017

Wendy Mericle did a new interview with CBR about what is to come with the last 5 episodes of Arrow and she had this to say about Black Siren.

Speaking of legacy, can you tease your favorite thing about Black Siren’s return?
WM:What I love the most about Black Siren is seeing Katie Cassidy play a badass. [laughs] I mean, she was a badass before as Black Canary, but playing this other role with this darkness to it… it’s just a very interesting color for her to play, as she did Laurel, which she did an amazing job. She brings so much to this role, and it’s really seeing Katie really nail the ins and outs of this character. I think the other interesting thing about it and my favorite part is the impact that it has emotionally on the people who knew Laurel before she was unfortunately killed in Season 4. What does it mean to see this person who looks exactly like this person you loved and have them come back and be evil? It raises all kinds of questions for the people who knew her best, and that part is just absolutely rich character territory that we can play with and we’re really excited about doing that going forward.

Marc Guggenheim On Laurel Being On Legends of Tomorrow

Written by owner on April 05 2017

Marc Guggebheim did a new interview with Variety about the season final of Legends Of Tomorrow and he talked a little about Katie.

Variety: Katie Cassidy is returning for the finale as Laurel. How was it having her share scenes with Sara (Caity Lotz) again?
Marc Guggenheim: It’s always a delight to have Katie Cassidy come back and reprise her role as Laurel. It’s just one scene but it’s an incredibly pivotal scene, and I think it’s very moving.

Variety: I was excited to see Katie was returning as a series regular to “Arrow,” but I honestly had my fingers crossed that Black Siren would become a member of the Legends.
MG: That was something we had talked about. For us, the whole conversation about bringing Katie back as a series regular on “Arrow” began with her performance in the midseason premiere. We briefly spoke about bringing her on “Legends,” but I think from a story perspective we would get far more mileage out of her interacting with the cast of “Arrow.”

‘Arrow’: Katie Cassidy Returning as Series Regular

Written by Neide on March 27 2017

It looks like once again– Katie will be back on Arrow. Not as our beloved Black Canary but as Black Siren.

Katie Cassidy is returning to the DC TV family.

After her character Laurel Lance was shockingly killed off Arrow in season four, Cassidy is coming back to The CW series as Laurel’s evil Earth-2 doppelgänger Black Siren, The Hollywood Reporter has learned. She will appear in the final two episodes of season five before returning as a series regular for season six.

“One of the things that most excites us about Arrow is that we go where the story takes us,” executive producer Marc Guggenheim said in a statement. “Last year, the story took us to the tragic death of Laurel Lance. This year, our midseason finale reintroduced us to Laurel’s doppelgänger, Black Siren. We were so taken by Katie’s fearless interpretation of this character that we knew her story was not yet finished. We couldn’t be more thrilled to welcome Katie back to Arrow as Black Siren, though as her appearances on Arrow and Legends of Tomorrow this season show, she never really left the family.”

Cassidy first made her debut as Laurel’s evil metahuman twin from another universe on The Flash last season, where she was caught and imprisoned by Barry Allen (Grant Gustin). She was released from the STAR Labs pipeline prison by Arrow season five villain Prometheus (Josh Segarra) to cause emotional turmoil for Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell), as Oliver thought Laurel was miraculously resurrected by her time-traveling sister Sara Lance (Caity Lotz) on Legends of Tomorrow. When Oliver finally learned the truth, he caught her again with the help of Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) and Curtis (Echo Kellum) and handed her over to ARGUS for custody.

PaleyFest 2017: The Lance sisters will reunite on Legends of Tomorrow.

Written by owner on March 26 2017

The 2017 DC PaleyFest took place last week in LA and although Katie was not there her self we did get some more info on the part in the upcoming season final of Legends Of Tomorrow season 2.

Guggenheim shared on social media that Katie Cassidy would be reprising her role of Laurel Lance in the Legends finale, and he says the scene was a long time coming. “I have to give a shout-out to Katie Cassidy,” Guggenheim says. “It’s only one scene, but man, she’s spectacular in it. It’s a scene we’ve wanted to do since the beginning of the season. We really wanted to get Sara and Laurel back together.”

“It was wonderful,” adds Lotz. “Katie and I hadn’t been able to do a scene together in years. She feels like my sister now, so it was very emotional, nostalgic, and I think people will really like it.”

But will Laurel pop up on any of the other DC shows before the season concludes? “I can say absolutely nothing,” Guggenheim says.
