What Katie Wore: Intergalactic

Written by Neide on May 03 2015

It just hit me.

Subconsciously, I think I’m a Beastie Boy.

I guess it makes sense. I mean… East Coast, hip-hop/rock, rebel living?!  Those dudes were sarcastic ironic little rebels and personally, I think they were killing it. Gold chains with sneakers, baggy over-sized ripped-up jeans, button-downs and leather jackets. They knew what was up.

It may not be the 80’s and I might not be a rapper, but that doesn’t mean I don’t need to fight for my right to party or that it’s time to put the acid wash away (especially considering these jeans are only $64). Nope.

It doesn’t matter what year it is, there’s never a bad time to be Intergalactic.

What Katie Wore: April Showers

Written by Neide on April 08 2015

Sometimes even our best laid plans are foiled.  When we scheduled this photoshoot, the weather was warm, the sun was out and the forecast told us to expect more of the same. Yet when the day actually arrived, we awoke to rain falling in sheets and a temperature that had been reduced to requiring a sweater. We just put those away, damn it.

But then again, we should have known better. That’s Spring for you – rarely on time and fickle as a pickle. Just when you think you have everything worked out and planned out, those April showers swoop in on their seemingly never-ending mission to bring May flowers and it’s Hunter boots and anoraks for you. (Or in this case, light sweaters and slip-on sneakers because we swear it was sunny when we left the house.)

To be clear, we aren’t complaining. We are so thrilled to not be staring down the barrel of six more weeks of winter (thanks for that Punxsutawney Phil) that we would spend the entire month of April participating in rainy day activities if necessary. We’d just appreciate a little heads up next time

What Katie Wore: From Spin Class to High Class

Written by Neide on April 01 2015

Ok, so I was thankful for Gods creation of a blazers in general, but blazers with detachable hoodies?!? It’s like Christmas came early. (I also love the idea of this one.) When I found this piece it made me so happy I could cry! Veronica Beard you’re a GENIUS. Basically, anything that can take me straight from spin class to high class is a winner in my book.

When I see a woman in a blazer I think: clean, classy, and that bitch looks smart. Blazers are simple and chic and you basically can throw them on over anything. I guess that’s why this has become my go-to of sorts. Especially when I’m in a hurry.

Throw that together with a bun – they’re easy to do and come in handy after spin – and you’re good to go. Just spray a bit of dry shampoo, dig up your stretchy claw head band from 1995, twist it all up with a spin pin and voila. Oh, and I would also suggest a good deodorant.

Katie Cassidy on Blogging, Favorite Emojis, and her New Eyewear Collaboration

Written by owner on November 12 2014

There’s no denying that glasses are having a fashion moment. From insiders like J. Crew’s Jenna Lyons—who’s rarely seen without her signature specs—to designers like DSquared who outfitted their gorgeous models in eyeglasses on the Spring 2014 runway, it seems being a proverbial four-eyes has never been cooler.
That’s why we’re loving a new collaboration between Glasses.com and the ladies behind style blog Tomboy KC—actress Katie Cassidy and her best friend, former attorney Lynsey Eaton. The partnership is called Sorella—”sister” in Italian—and consists of 14 style-forward frames. Oh, and the best part: They’re each $99, with prescription lenses.
We caught up with the girls in Vancouver—Katie currently shoots the CW show “Arrow” in the Canadian city—and got the scoop.

StyleCaster: Why did you two chose an eyewear brand to collaborate with?
Katie Cassidy: I’d been wearing frames forever, but I’d pop the lenses out because I didn’t need glasses, but I loved the way that they looked. I loved that glasses are an accessory you can use to change your whole look.
Lynsey Eaton: It felt very organic to us because we both wear frames on the site a lot. When Glasses.com was looking to develop a collaboration that was women designing for women—our whole site is celebrating friendship and being yourself—and they contacted us and were like ‘obviously.’

Glasses when you’re going out at night: Yes or no?
Katie: Yes! Be who you are.
Lynsey: To me, it’s wear what you want to wear, when you want to wear it. If Jenna Lyons can wear them to the MET Gala, I think I can wear them to dinner.

What are you guys planning to splurge on this fall?
Lynsey: I really want a pair of heeled thigh-high boots.
Katie: I really wanted a cape … and I got a few. [If I love something] I’ll be like “I love this style, I’m going to get it in 15 different colors.”
Lynsey: She’s like the grandpa that goes to Costco and buys the same shirt in every color and every size!

What Katie Wore: I Rock Tom Ford

Written by owner on October 17 2013

Katie has post a new what katie wore on her blog Tomboy KC.

“I get obsessed with things. It is true. I find a lipstick I love and I wear it until it is down to the nub (or my friends tell me the vamp look is over… which will be NEVER). I learn a new hairdo and I do it until there is no doing it anymore. And when I get on a kick about a particular area of my closet (this month it happens to be over the knee boots), I go out and find myself obsessively purchasing (or looking to purchase) one (or two) in every color.

I am not sure what it is about me as a person that makes me decide I am lacking in sweaters and then forces me to only buy sweaters for two months straight, but this is who I am. A person that falls so deeply in love with a look that I can’t imagine wearing anything else. I can’t begin to contemplate why anyone wouldn’t want to spend all of their allocated shopping time staring at ripped denim, that is, until the moment I become transfixed on something else.

I have a one track mind.

And right now that track reads like a Jay-Z song, “Tom Ford, Tom Ford, Tom Ford, Tom Ford.””

What Katie Wore: Cat Ears

Written by owner on October 02 2013

Katie has post a new what katie wore on her blog Tomboy KC.

“I know what you are thinking, “It’s not Halloween yet. It’s only the first of October!” Well, you’re right. But you should also know that this is not a post about Halloween or dressing for it. No, I’m wearing cat ears because I like them.

To give credit where credit is due, I fell in love with the idea of cat ears as a headpiece at fashion week this September. I was sitting at the Cushnie et Ochs show when cleavage blindsided me on the front row. Luckily for me, a chic and dainty woman wearing cat ears grabbed my attention before I became too overwhelmed. Cat ears… I didn’t know her but I knew she was a total badass. She didn’t care that she was wearing an item traditionally viewed as a costume and it wasn’t Halloween, and why should she? She looked damn good in those cat ears. Due in large part to her “I don’t give a shit” attitude, within 24 hours I found myself with a pair of my own. Let it be known, I have been rocking them ever since.

So you see, it doesn’t have to be Halloween to rock cat ears. Just own it. Instead, the question you should be asking is “Who let Katie drive their boat?”
