Trivia & Facts
• Katie Cassidy and Adam Campbell worked together twice before on the series Harper’s Island (2009) and the movie Spin (2007).
• Second John R. Leonetti film to be inspired by the Manson family murders. The opening sequence of Annabelle (2014) recreated a fictional version of the murders. It is also his second film with a pregnant protagonist after the aforementioned film.
• In a December 2017 roundup of the year’s movies, critic Mark Kermode named this not only the worst film released in 2017 but the worst he had seen in several years, calling it “nasty, duplicitous, morally bankrupt and dramatically inept… and I hope to never have to mention or think about it ever again.”
• The movie holds a 0% on Rotten Tomatoe
• Is unofficially set within The Conjuring Universe. The character of Detective Clarkin played by Eric Ladin appears in both this film and Annabelle (2014).
• Miles Fisher and Arlen Escarpeta previously co-starred in the horror film Final Destination 5 (2011).
• When Abigail is talking to her mother on the phone, a coffee pot can be seen on the shelf behind her. Abigail’s last name is Folger, and she would have been the heiress of the Folger Coffee fortune had she not been murdered by the Manson family
• In the opening home invasion, the California officer’s flashlight traces over a painting of a clown while he searched the house. This painting was one by John Wayne Gacy, another famous serial killer.
Goofs
• None of the murders occur as they did in real life. Stephen Parent was stabbed/shot, not bludgeoned. Frykowski does die on the porch, but not until after being tied up inside and eventually stabbed/shot. Sebring was not stabbed, but shot by Watson, and not while he was asleep on the couch. Abigail Folger was stabbed multiple times, but never bludgeoned.
• At her party at El Coyote Restaurant, Abigail Folger mentions her birthday is in October. In reality, Abigail was born on August 11th 1943.
• When the detective states “rash of home invasions lately”..the term was coined 20 years later as this takes place in 1969. He should have said ” rash of burglaries lately” would have been more accurate.
