Sypnosis
Michael Newman (Sandler) is a hard-working family man who must please his boss (Hasselhoff) in order to get promoted. This gives him less time with his family, and he wishes for a remote with which to control his life. This soon comes true when he meets Morty (Walken), a crazy sales clerk who has the ultimate remote: a remote in which he can do anything, including muting, skipping, and dubbing his life. Michael finds this to be the opportunity in which he can not only skip every argument, but also skip to his promotion. He sees this as a good idea–until the remote goes horribly wrong

Trivia & Facts
• The coin trick that Henry Winkler does in the movie is something the actor does in real life. During public appearances, Winkler will often do the trick for children.
• The little girl at the lakeside during young Michael’s flashback is Kate Beckinsale’s daughter, Lily Mo Sheen.
• The neighbors in the film are named the O’Doyles, which is also the name of the family of bullies who always say “O’Doyle Rules” in Adam Sandler’s film Billy Madison (1995).
• Three of the people who play versions of Ben and Samantha are the children of famous actors. Lorraine Nicholson who plays teen Samantha is the daughter of Jack Nicholson, Jake Hoffman who plays adult Ben is the son Dustin Hoffman and Katie Cassidy who plays adult Samantha is the daughter of David Cassidy.
• James Gunn revealed that he sent the script Rewind which had a very similar premise to Sony but was turned down in favor of Click.
• The scene set in the past where Michael Newman (Adam Sandler) and Donna Newman (Kate Beckinsale) kiss for the first time, the lighting was set to look like a late-1980s or early-1990s film.
• Kate Spade’s designer handbags and clothing brand is mentioned twice in the movie. Kate Spade was the sister-in-law of David Spade, a friend of Adam Sandler’s, who appears in many of his films.
• At Ben’s wedding in the future, the Freedom Tower can be seen in the New York City skyline (except there are two towers) where the World Trade Center once stood.
• Click (2006) was the first movie to be released on a BD-50, which is a 50 gigabyte blu-ray disc. Prior to this, movies were released on a BD-25, a 25 gigabyte blu-ray disc.
• In the scene where Michael is at his father’s grave, a headstone can be seen behind him with the names Nick and Diana Salinger – the parents from Party of Five (1994).
• The film’s premise was originated from a joke by co-writer Steve Koren. It was not until co-writer Mark O’Keefe’s girlfriend’s suggestion of turning it into a feature that the project got off the ground.
• In the “first kiss flashback”, Janine Jennifer Coolidge is seen wearing a shirt of The Simpsons. Julie Kavner (Trudy Newman) provides the voice for Marge Simpson on The Simpsons (1989).
• Michael (Adam Sandler) passes on a favor from Mr. Ammer (David Hasselhoff), to which Mr. Ammer replies, “I’ll put Swardson on it.” Nick Swardson is a friend of Adam Sandler, who has appeared in several of his movies and comedy albums. The real Swardson also appears in the Bed, Bath & Beyond scene.
• Adam Sandler tried jumping over the fence during a take and cut his stomach.
• Kate Beckinsale had a dialect coach to help her make a fake New York accent.
• In the lake scene, Michael (Adam Sandler) reminisces about his childhood at Lake Winnipesaukee. Winnipesaukee is approximately fifty miles north of Manchester, New Hampshire; where Sandler grew up.
• Lauren Graham and Drew Barrymore turned down the part of Donna Newman.
• The robot dog that Kevin O’Doyle owned was a Sony AIBO ERS-7.

• The cameo appearance of Terry Crews singing “Working for the Weekend” by Loverboy was inspired by his iconic moment from White Chicks (2004). In 1990, the same year Sandler and fellow Saturday Night Live alumni Chris Farley began on the show, Farley starred alongside Patrick Swayze in a dance scene with the same soundtrack. In his post-SNL tenure, Sandler has made other references to former cast mates, including Farley.

Goofs
• When Michael first goes back to his old house after getting fat, the radio says it 2017 but when we see him again in the hospital, Donna says it’s been six years since the accident. Out in the lobby when he sees his son, the intercom says it’s 2018 though it should be 2023. Shortly after when he finds out his father died and he goes to the cemetery, his father’s grave says he died in 2021.
• When Michael farts in Mr. Ammer’s mouth it is completely open, but when he freezes him his mouth is open but his teeth are closed. It actually changes positions about three different times.
• When Michael wakes up at the end of the movie you can still see the beyond behind him, but when he gets up it disappears.
• When Michael comes home and parks in the driveway his car is very dusty, in the scene that follows where his son and his friend is throwing the baseball, the car in the background changes in between shots from dusty to clean.
• When Ammer tells Michael that he didn’t get the promotion yet, he’s eating with his glasses on. Just before Michael ‘pauses’ him to smack him around, his glasses disappear without him taking them off.
• During breakfast with Janine and Michael when Janine is shouting at him, she has a rabbit teddy in her hand when shouting about her abandoned rabbit. The camera shot then goes to Michael, and when it switches back to Janine the rabbit teddy has vanished.
• When Michael is first talking to Ammer, on the desk is a Mitel 5240 IP phone. However, in the other scenes when Michael is in Ammer’s office the phone on Ammer’s desk is an analog single line phone. In most offices, it is unlikely that a company in reality would downgrade from VOIP to an analog or digital PBX.
• During breakfast with Donna and Janine, the cereal on Michael’s spoon disappears, the spoon changes angles, and then reappears again.
• When the kids are coming downstairs to get a Twinkie, the box changes from Spanish to English from the view of the stairs.
• When Michael is first discovering the remote’s power, he uses it to silence the dog. The scene shows a dog barking, but there is no sound. He then uses it to restore the dog’s barking, and the camera cuts to the dog, and we hear barking. The camera cuts back to Michael. When it briefly cuts back to the dog once more, the dog is again silent, although Michael has not used the remote.
• Ben and Samantha are two years apart. The end credits depict three actors for both Ben and Samantha at different ages. At the start of the movie, Ben is 7 and Samantha is 5. Then, after the one-year jump, Ben is 8 and Samantha is 6. Then ten more years pass, Ben is 18 (the credits say he’s 17) and Samantha is 16 (the credits say she’s 14). Then a six-year jump, Ben is 24 and Samantha is 22 (the credits say she’s 27). Going by the credits, Samantha is suddenly older than Ben.
• When Michael tells his daughter he’s going to teach her calculus she corrects him implying that he doesn’t know how. However, being an architect he would have had to take a calculus class in college at some point.
