  • Katherine Evelyn Anita Cassidy was born on November 25, 1986 in Los Angeles, California to her parents Sherry Williams and David Cassidy. Her mother was a high fashion model in the 1970s and her father was a pop star during the same decade. Katie has a younger half-brother, Beau, who’s five years younger than her from her father’s marriage to Sue Shifrin. She was raised by her mother and stepfather Richard Benedon. Growing up, Katie took gymnastics, studied piano, guitar, singing, dancing, and acting. She was also a competitive cheerleader for the California Flyers and was a part of her freshman cheerleading squad at Calabasas High School. Her mother encouraged her to take college prep courses while still in high school before Katie began pursuing her acting career. At the age of fifteen, Katie recorded a cover of the Partridge Family’s song “I Think I Love You.” Katie began modeling for Abercrombie and Fitch while she was studying acting in community theater before graduating high school in 2005.

    Katie’s first acting job came as playing Young Candice ‘C.D.’ DeLorenzo in an episode of the television series “The Division” in 2003. The next year, she appeared in Eminem’s music video for the song “Just Lose It,” which currently has over 253 million views on YouTube. In 2005, she would play Rebecca in an episode on the television show “Listen Up”, followed closely by appearing in Jesse McCartney’s music video for “She’s No You,” in which Jesse wrote about her. Katie would lander first recurring role as Zoe on the popular television family drama “7th Heaven” in its ninth season. She would also appear in a couple episodes of the television show “Sex, Love, & Secrets” as Gabrielle that same year.

    Katie made her film debut as Tiffany in the 2006 thriller When A Stranger Calls, starring Camilla Belle and Tommy Flanagan. She would be in two more thrillers that year, The Lost as Dee Dee and Black Christmas as Kelli Presley. Katie would also portray the 27 year old version of Samantha in the Adam Sandler film Click. In 2007, she would play the role of Apple in the romantic comedy Spin, a film about six people recall their evening at a Los Angeles nightclub. The same year, she would play Jewel in the Eva Mendez-led film Live!, as well as Walk the Talk as Jessie. Katie appeared on the television show “Supernatural” as the demon Ruby in its third season. The character was brought back the next season, being replaced by Genevieve Padalecki.

    In 2008, she played Amanda in the thriller Taken, starring Liam Neeson and Famke Janssen. The film grossed almost $227 million at the box office worldwide against only a $25 million budget. Katie had recurring roles on the television shows “Harper’s Island”, which centered on a group of family and friends who gather for a wedding on an island known for its sinister past full of gruesome murders, as Trish Wellington; and Ella Simms on “Melrose Place”, a reboot of the 1990s series, in 2009. The next year, she played Kris Fowles in the remake of A Nightmare on Elm Street, also starring Rooney Mara and Jackie Earle Haley. She was nominated for a Teen Choice Award for Choice Horror/Thriller Actress for her role, in which Megan Fox won that year. Also in 2010, Katie joined the cast of “Gossip Girl” as Juliet Sharp in its fourth season.

    2012 began with starring alongside Selena Gomez and Leighton Meester in the family comedy film Monte Carlo, playing Emma. She would make an appearance on “New Girl” as Brooke and played Nikki Argo in the television movie Georgetown opposite Joe Mazzello. The same year, Katie portrayed the role of Laurel Lance on the CW television series “Arrow”, which would launch the Arrowverse on the network. She would return throughout its eight season stint to play Laurel from different Earths. In 2013, she would portray the role of Amanda Rowe in the thriller Kill for Me, a film about two roommates consider to murder each other’s abusive men from their pasts to help settle their problems. The next year, Katie starred alongside Michelle Trachtenberg in The Scribbler, a film adaption of the graphic novel, as Suki, a woman with dissociative identity disorder.

    She would make her first appearance on “The Flash” in 2015 as Laurel Lance. In 2016, Katie portrayed the role of Sharon in the thriller Wolves at the Door, a film loosely-based on the Manson Family murders. Her character was inspired by the last model/actress Sharon Tate. She joined the second season of the television show “Vixen”, voicing her character Laurel Lance for its second season, as well as the television movie the next year. Katie would also appear in a couple episodes of “DC’s Legends of Tomorrow”. In 2017, Katie stars in the 2017 PlayStation 4 game “Hidden Agenda,” voicing Beckie Marnie.

    Katie’s next film would be Cover Versions, where she plays Jackie alongside Drake Bell and Jerry Trainor in 2018. The film follows four band members telling their own version of an evening before their first show at a popular music festival. Later that year, she would star opposite Matthew Lillard and Tate Donovan in Grace, as Dawn Walsh.

    When CW aired the “Arrow” series finale, the world got a sneak peek of a spin-off entitled “Green Arrow and the Canaries”, which followed Mia Queen, Dinah Drake, and Laurel Lance back into the future to continue to fight for justice in Star City. We are still waiting on word on whether The CW will greenlight the series or not.
